By just letting it do the math, making a fresh 'timewarp' effect and plugging in the calculated number [ in my case I'm nerdily fascinated that that simple expression math could bog down a system like that You know, I ended up just doing the same methodology in Premiere instead of AE.
Would be a pain if you had a tonne of clips. The only difference in method is that I made a duplicate of the clip in the bin, kept its framerate intact and used its audio under the frame rate adjusted copy with speed effect.
