Rogers new virus protection

Rogers Communications adopted an effective marketing approach for new potential clients. There is no cancellation fee if you are with Rogers long enough.

If you cancel using the security before that, no fee. I had the same problem and actually called their Customer Relations Dept in Toronto to file a formal complaint about that and the wireless issue that I have recently had. I read their terms and conditions online on their site. If you do, call their Customer Relations Dept in Toronto and aske to speak to a supervisor.

If you threaten to cancell, garunteed they will bend over backwards for you. I had 30 months left on my wireless contract that I had renewed for the th time. Easy peasy…. Good luck! Their ICSA certification is meaningless. It only means it catches viruses to a certain minimum threshold. But considering how tricky some of these viruses, trojans, keyloggers and web based scripts are, that is not enough.

Therefore the Anti-Virus Certification Criteria does not include requirements for handling malicious and non-malicious spyware, adware, foistware, backdoors, Trojan horses, and other such non-replicating software.

RedialPoint Antivirus made my system so slow that it actually convinced me to pay up for a commercial software instead of relying on my ISP discretion! First, let it be known that I am a computer nerd! I purchased a new Compaq laptop 5 months ago and it came with Norton Antivirus.

My provider is Rogers and somewhere down the line I finished up with Rogers Antivirus and then the fun began. I took it to the store and was told that there seemed to be an internal battle going on between the two antiviruses and it would be better to delete Norton, which they did. I contacted HP and they agreed to take it back and repair it, which they have all free of charge.

Its working great at the moment but I have this popup everytime I start up from Norton to download thier antivirus, My question to anybody with good knowledge of computers is which antivirus would be the best suited for me,Thanks. Hi, Derek and Paul, I am using Norton since many years now, before they had some performance problems for some time with their Norton antivirus products but in between they have solved all those issues.

Since around last two years or so the Norton antivirus is doing very good. I would recommend all to check before you install any thing on your computer. I just use Kaspersky. Sorry to know about your encounter with Rogers antivirus I have never heard of this antivirus. But since it came from your ISP, it is likely to fall for it. I am really done with free antivirus software.

They are simply incapable of securing a computer in this world full of malware. I had Avira Antivirus free edition and have ready a lot about it. But my computer has been running slow since last week. Then I thought to install some other antivirus and cross check to see if there is any problem. But also learnt a lesson. NEVER trust a free antivirus, no matter what people say about it.

At the end of the day, everything burns down to money and business. There is nothing free in this world full of crapware. Rogers online protection is a joke.

Whoever at rogers made that decision to end Symantec and contract with this BS should be out of a job. Thanks, I enjoyed reading your post. Keep up with the good work. Search instead for. You are also responsible for any misuse of the service, by you or by any other person with access to the service through your equipment or account.

As a result, you must take steps to correct this issue and ensure others do not gain unauthorized access to your service through any means.

If you have the Rogers Smart Home Monitoring service, any features requiring a broadband connection, such as remote control of your lights via the mobile app, will be affected. Please Be Advised: Rogers will never ask you for your password or other confidential personal information via email or phone.

If you would like to verify that this email is from Rogers you can contact us at the information listed on your monthly bill. Please follow the steps listed in the email to resolve the issue. The only change that has happened that triggered this event is the upgrade to the Rogers Ignite internet service with the new modem I'll certainly hire someone to fix a problem, but as of today, no one at Rogers has been able to explain to me what the problem is or how to resolve it other than the generic email and pointing out that I have my own router which is a couple of years old and has updated firmware -- if the problem is on my end vs on Rogers' end -- so not sure how I would specify to a third party what I'm looking to solve If one Google's this problem vs Rogers, there are numerous people who seem to have experienced the same issue So I'm kinda at a loss here, Rogers Thx Jan.

As long as you have followed the instructions to the letter, your network should be safe from being exploitable to participate in an open SSDP Reflection attack. If you are still concerned about the security of your third-party router, then I would recommend contacting the manufacturer and asking for support in disabling any settings that leaves your network open with SSDP vulnerabilities.

I would go through the EERO connected devices, and make sure there are no rouge devices showing on there which shouldnt be there. Just because the laptops have antivirus doesnt mean that they dont have something.

You have run a FULL scan with the antivirus on it? Not all antivirus are built the same and can miss stuff. Running a fullblown malware program as well like Malwarebytes, might catch something else. I have received two similar emails, I'm running windows 10 with all the latest updates; the windows defends is always on. I also did a full scanning after first email, no virus detected. I contacted their representative and asked them to use their router to track down the mac address of the device sent the package with malware activity, but they said they can't.

I wonder if I should start seeking another ISP, as it seems the roger uses its power to take advantage on us threading us to cut off the internet while we are experiencing the Pandemic, when the internet is essential. We have done our best based on our best knowledge, the rogers should use their technology and power to protect the router and detecting the source of infection if any.

Just FYI - nothing more happened on my end since the above detailed post from a year ago. Rogers couldn't provide any assistance. I spoke to people in tech support from what I recall. But I'm still a Rogers customer and never got another similar message.

That brings up something else.. These things could be a case of MAC cloning It appears that the modem they are using IS you. This stuff has come up as potential issues when many plans had USAGE, and usage, etc was still recorded even say while modem unplugged.

So its possible these things happening, could be off of a cloned modem. The more I think, the more likely it might be. A follow up as well.. A good idea in the long run, period for safety sake, would be to make sure ALL devices are up to date, run any OS and software updates available on them.

If this is still the case, Norton has released a statement that it will be compatible with Windows 10 at launch date, which is July You sound like me. It has not been provided by Norton for years now, though I cannot say who provides it now. Thank you jimboden and JohhnyRockets for your participation in the Community.

Just so you know the engine running behind ROP is provided by Bitdefender. This has made the current version of Rogers Online Protection incompatible. We are working with our security software provider to release a version that will be fully compatible with Windows 10 and certified by Microsoft, as soon as possible.

Yes, the Rogers TechXpert dashboard is compatible with Windows It can be downloaded from rogers. How will customers know when the new version of Rogers Online Protection is available?

We will message users of the release of a compatible version through the Rogers TechXpert dashboard. What operating systems does the current version of Rogers Online Protection support? In addition to the suggestions from RogersStrick above, you might want to consider downloading Microsoft Security Essentials.

It is a free program from Microsoft and if you search these forums, you will find that many Rogers customers actually prefer this to ROP. Windows 10 actually comes with Microsoft Security Essentials and windows defender built in. I wasn't event able to renew it or buy a new one so I contact tech support Live Chat and they came to the conclusion that I did not require to renew the license but that Rogers Online Protection does not work with Windows 10 and was advised to use Windows 10 online protection until Rogers will notify me that their software will work with Windows Until than I am stuck with Windows defender and using Windows firewall which the Rogers technician advised me that Rogers Online Protection is more secure.

My question to the forum is that very same thing, does anyone know if Rogers Online Protection is more secure than Windows Firewall combined with Windows Defender?

I would like to know your opinions as I am still paying into this service with Rogers even when I am not longer protected by them. I am just waiting for them to notify me now. Since I do not have Windows 10, I cannot say for sure, but I do know it can be downloaded for free. I have always been happy with MSE. I am not sure I would take the word of a Rogers technician who advised me that Rogers Online Protection is more secure. Well it doesnt come with MSE.. Been running that here so far with no issues..
