Internet explorer fails to open vista

I did reset of IE as one of the authors had earlier suggested. But that did not help either. I am able to ping all the web sites. One strange this is after I type a web site i.

I will now resore the system and I will not be as anxious to accept all the suggested upgrades!! I have this problem currently on 2 XP SP3 desktops and on one Server , on two different networks, both of which have other workstations working fine.

I have tried a system restore on one, and also deleting the latest IE7 security update, it also happens when I install firefox on these systems, but in all cases thay can "ping" the internet "ping www.

After months of trying to figure out how to fix this issue - I read this post and it works :- - Thank you. About a week ago I had notification of 10 Windows updates.

I selected 7, having unselected the Office ones, which I do not use. All downloaded and installed except one for IE. Tried various things, including manual install, but to no avail until I ran chkdsk. This identified and checked a couple of disc errors, unfortunately I cannot remember the details. I rebooted and the final update installed ok. My router is BT HomeHub 2 with ethernet connection.

I am connected to the internet as updates are working, just cannot open web pages. Tried in Safe Mode with networking and pages open without any problem. I also have a laptop connected wirelessly to the BT Hub and have no problem with it. Have tried resetting the hub and clearing the IE history.

Also tried Network Diagnostics on Internet Connections. After about 2 seconds got an error message with code 0x I have to say it is really disappointing that this problem has been around for such a long time without a clear-cut solution and that it is now present on Win7.

It is running Vista Business. Nothing seems to correct the problem. Thursday, February 14, PM. This problem seems to be fairly widespread. Same thing happened to both myself and my girlfriend. I went to the techies at my school, and they said there were several cases, with the exact same problem as that which had came in yesterday.

Mine started as a slow decline though, first firefox updated and stopped working, then anything i installed that needed internet access new browser, games etc. Now no browesers would work.

My solution? Probably the worst possible solution, but it updated when i plugged in the internet and everything still works fine. Hi, had the exact problem as well. I checked everything and nothing worked, including two hours on the phone with technical support. Eventually I deleted my recent updates and Internet Explorer started to work again. It does not shutdown predicably. When I open multiple tabs it becomes less stable and often I'd say 3 times out of 5 will shortly get the "IE has stopped working" error within a minute or so of opening multiple tabs.

I even fully restored Vista on this machine via the "Novo" button that restores the C: drive to factory specs. The problem persists even with a freshly renewed Vista install. It behaved the same - shutting down IE most of the time - shortly after I opened multiple tab windows. Stable as a rock with only one Tab window open. This is a Lenovo Y notebook computer. Two associates at work bought the identical notebooks from the special at Office Depot early in Feburary.

And they have the identical problem with IE7. They are living with it - one by avoiding use of TABs,,, I and the other person are simply using Mozilla Foxfire which does not seem to have any problems. I'm hopeful that SP1 will provide some relief. Or that whoever ramrods the IE7 development will get off their arse and fix this thing. I do not have any such problem with IE7 running on my desktop computer with XP. Obviously there is an instability introduced when Vista and IE7 are sharing resources.

From the number of variations on this error condition that I see posted on various forums, I cannot help but conclude that there IE7 with Vista is inherently unstable. Microsoft really ought to try to get ahead of this before Vista and IE7 further penetrate the marketplace.

Click OK. This will temporarily prevent third-party programs from running automatically during start-up. If the problem does not occur, it indicates that the problem is related to one application or service we have disabled.

Ad-Aware with updates as of found no critical objects. I did allow it to remove the tracking cookies it found. Ran it again to be sure it found everything it could Was clean the second time. Also downloaded and ran CCleaner and SpyBot with latest updates and allowed each to clean everything it suggested, with the single exception that I didn't let SpyBot remove my RealVNC program that it declared to be a security risk.

Problem persisted. I have since re-enabled these services. You should recognize that the IE problem is a bit sporadic. But as often as not, opening multiple tabs will shortly usually within a minute or so result in the infamous "IE has stopped working" error condition. If it doesn't fail, opening additional tab windows will usually provoke the error condition. I once even used the Lenovo "Nuvo" button which restores Drive C: to the original factory image takes about 30 minues. The IE problem persisted immediately after that - both before and after I went through the long, arduous series of Windows Update downloads to bring things up to the correct patch level.

I do not wish to go through that exercise again. I'm out of ideas. And am convinced that IE7 with Vista is problematic with respect to multiple tabs. Have installed Mozilla FireFox 3, beta 4 and it runs without any problem. In fact it is noticably faster than IE7. The only downside is that FoxFire is not "fully" compatible with a very few of my needs.

But for those I can use IE7 without invoking multiple tabs and get by. To do this, use the following procedure:. Step 1: Download Internet Explorer that can be installed on your Operating system using the following table as guidance. Step 2: Uninstall the version of Internet Explorer that you may have installed on top of Internet Explorer 8. Internet Explorer 8. Under Uninstall an update list, select applicable Internet Explorer version from the list Internet Explorer 11 or Windows Internet Explorer 9 and select Yes to confirm uninstallation and restart your system to complete the process.

Step 3: Install the version of Internet Explorer that you downloaded in Step 1 and restart the system after installation.

Our new approach started with a regular cadence of meaningful platform previews. We blogged—a lot—to make sure that developers had the right information to succeed. Your help and feedback were crucial and informed the changes we made. Acting on your feedback has been a key part of this release. With the Release Candidate, for example, we took to heart over 17, pieces of feedback about IE9. We want to thank the millions of people who have installed and used Internet Explorer 9 during pre-release testing.

The value of your feedback in developing the product is hard to overstate. The final release continues the pattern of acting on your feedback. Some of the changes that RC users will find when upgrading to the final version include:.

For example, we did additional tuning for low-end GPUs, where you will find that the Speed Reading test drive is even faster.
