October 1, About Us Contact Us. One has to remain active by default. I just want to use a wireless USB mouse. The click menu keeps coming up and freezing further action until it is cleared by hitting the esc. Right now I'm back on my old p3 mz tower, but it lets me type. I believe that before the hd crashed in this unit Sony I had disabled the buttons on the pad. Now I can't. I was running XP Home before.
Any help would be appreciated as I am recently disabled and I might have to rely on that old Sony until I can get my newer laptop working Maybe you have an answer for this one?
It had locked up while in Windows. It would not re-boot. I ran a factory system recovery disk that after loading the windows drivers and the blue screen says starting windows, freezes.
The disk is good as I used it to load my Sony operating system with it. Why would a good system disk lock up? I've loaded up many systems over the past 20 years and have never faced this problem.
A thought Thanks, c. Clicking on the mouse icon will bring up the interface necessary to disable the touchpad, though you might have to navigate through menus or tabs to find the setting. If the system tray does not contain a mouse or touchpad icon, navigate to the Control Panel.
The path to the Control Panel differs depending on the operating system. If you cannot find the Control Panel use the system's Search function to look for a folder of the same name. Once inside the Control Panel, scroll down to the Mouse icon and click it. Try looking for a tab or menu tree heading called Device Settings to find the control to disable the device.
Macintosh and Linux systems have their own versions of the Control Panel that will also lead to touchpad settings by navigating through Mouse options. Within the software there might be an option to use both an external mouse and the touchpad.
